When I was 13 I wrote my very first song after learning to play the C, G, F and D chords. Of course it was a sort of love song dedicated to my teen crush of the time. And of course it was super cheesy and rather awful with a title to match. I loved it, I still love it and “She’s The Girl” even made it to the Self Titled EP and is still to this day a song I play as an almost ironic anthem, winking to my past self as I gain momentum through the years in my musical career.
Interlude is a song that I never really finished. It was inspired by a chord progression that I learned from some younger musically gifted kids in my high school (Who then went on to form the Swedish Punk Rock band “Factory brains” and signing to Universal Records). The first, and only verse was of course inspired by Wonder Wall, Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Mad World - following the same chord progression and as with She’s the girl, was a dedication to some teen crush I had at the time.
I could never come up with lyrics for a chorus and didn’t ever write a second verse. It was still a song I liked and was our only ballad, so became a regular addition to our set list, gaining the title of interlude and was added as such to the EP in between the tracks “Rosy” and “She’s The Girl”
